Welcome to Waipipi School!

Waipipi School is a small school with a big heart. Our story began way back in 1874, and while a lot has changed since then, one thing has stayed the same — we’re all about nurturing curious minds and kind hearts.

Here, we celebrate every student as an individual, and we’re proud to be a place where children thrive, friendships blossom, and families feel at home. Whether you’ve been part of our school community for years or you're just joining us — welcome!

Life at School

School starts at 8:25am and finishes at 2:25pm. We keep our daily routine predictable and purposeful, with two snack breaks and lunchtime giving students plenty of time to refuel and play.

Uniforms are part of our school pride. Children wear a sky-blue polo shirt and polar fleece with plain black bottoms. In Terms 1 and 4, everyone wears a school sunhat — we take sun safety seriously! And during Term 1, you’ll need to pack togs and a towel every day because swimming is part of our PE programme.

Beyond the Classroom

Learning at Waipipi is full of variety and adventure! From class trips and camps to themed days and hands-on experiences, there’s always something exciting going on.

Students love favourites like Calf Club Day, our school production, Lego clubs, Fear Factor challenges, disco skating, and participating in local school sports competitions  — just to name a few!

Communication is Key

We love keeping in touch with families. Our school app is the best way to stay updated — you’ll find frequent Facebook posts,  weekly newsletters, alerts, and reminders there. You can also email or call us if you ever have questions. We’re here to help and we genuinely want to hear from you.

If you need to speak with a teacher, the best time to arrange a chat is outside of class hours — either before 8:00am or after 2:25pm. Just give us a call or pop into the office to make an appointment.

Learning Support for Every Child

At Waipipi School, we know some tamariki need extra support to thrive. We work with whaanau and specialists to provide tailored help—whether it's for learning, behaviour, emotional needs, or speech.

Support might be one-on-one or in small groups with our awesome teacher aides, and we regularly check progress. If your child has additional needs or you'd like to chat, we’re here to listen and support.

Working Togeather

We know that school works best when home and school work together. Parents are warmly encouraged to get involved — whether it’s helping on a class trip, flipping sausages at a fundraiser, or cheering on the sidelines at sports day.

Our Parent and Teacher Association (PTA) meets each term and is a great way to connect with other families and contribute to the fun side of school life.

Enrolment and Attendance

Ready to join us? New enrolments require a birth certificate and immunisation record. We also encourage preschool visits so your child can get comfortable before their first day.

If your child is going to be away, please notify us by 8:45am. Good attendance is one of the most important factors in learning success, but we also understand that sometimes kids just need a rest — especially when they’re unwell.
