The children should know how to use some of these. Parent help may also be required with websites they have not encountered before.

  • Mathletics
    Families could consider paying for this website for the children to build on their number knowledge and skills.
  • Khan Academy
    A free maths website with explanatory videos and practice tasks in a range of areas, such as place value, division, multiplying by 2-digit numbers and adding fractions to name a few things. Check it out... perhaps start at the 4th grade but if more of a challenge is needed there are lots of higher levels to work through. There are easier levels too for those who need it.

    To solve maths problems at year 5 it is very important for your child to be able to instantly recall addition and subtraction facts up to 20, and multiplication and division facts up to 10 x 10.
