“Knowledge for Life”
Friday 11 June 2010
Newsletter No 8
Term 2
Dear Parents
Across the term your children have become involved in the exploration of Enterprise and Financial Literacy. The “Trade Fair” venture has introduced the children to how companies work with each class setting up their own company and producing a product for sale while developing an understanding of the use and management of money.
The children have experienced “Hands On” learning, increased their knowledge about and growth in their own skills and attributes; and established a positive outlook for the future of being able to contribute to and participate positively in the community and living successful, fulfilling lives.
The “Trade Fair” will be held on Friday 25th June, in the “SMILE” building at 1:00pm.This being the time when you and your children are able to buy products of your choice. All children have played an important part in the making of the products, thus no one product is solely one child’s. Remember when you come to buy you will be buying a product made by a class not a child.
Parents, Grandparents, friends and members of the community are invited to the students’ market day. Further information about the products and the day will be released in next week’s newsletter.
You are also welcome to join us next Friday 18th June. We are having a special Trade Fair Advertising Assembly & Junior Speeches @ 8:45am
- Room 2 will be hosting the Assembly next Friday: Trade Fair Advertising & Junior Speeches Assembly.
We look forward to your participation at this assembly.

- “Banking Day” every Tuesday:
Once again a big thank you goes out to those parents who are helping around the school during the week and weekends at present.
Parents please make sure you check out the fantastic Totem Poles your children have made with a hard working group of parents during 2009. The same group of parents have now put them on display around our school for us to enjoy. Approximately every five years we try to get a whole school children’s project underway whereby your child has an opportunity to leave something for us to enjoy now and in future years. The last project was in 2005 when the Governor General visited and every child planted a tree in our native tree area in honour of her visit.
Thank you for your continual support.
Mrs Judith Maguire
Principal
Reminder: School starts at 8:30am. It is important for your child to be at school at least 15 minutes before our starting time as this gives them an opportunity to be organised for the day, possibly play with their friends and be settled ready to start their lessons with their teacher when the first bell goes. We understand that on odd occasions children will be late.
